On 4 December 2025, the Transport Innovation Association (TIA) brought together industry leaders and public-sector representatives in Vilnius for its annual Innovation Day. This year’s event placed strong emphasis on the digital transformation of the transport sector, highlighting how technologies such as advanced process automation, sustainability solutions, and artificial intelligence are reshaping logistics operations.

A key milestone of the event was the launch of a new Digitalization Working Group, established to accelerate Lithuania’s progress in implementing the Electronic Freight Transport Information (eFTI) Regulation. The group unites carriers, logistics companies, and IT solution providers with the shared goal of creating a fully digital, interoperable, and efficient information exchange environment for freight transport.

Driving Lithuania’s eFTI Readiness

The TIA’s Digitalisation Working Group will focus on the practical steps required for successful eFTI implementation in Lithuania, including:

  • developing and aligning interoperability standards,
  • supporting technical and organisational readiness of business sector for the eFTI ecosystem, and
  • ensuring smooth integration between public authorities and industry stakeholders.

During its inaugural meeting, the group identified the key digitalisation challenges that must be addressed and began outlining the strategic direction for launching a functioning eFTI ecosystem in the country.
