Italy Pilot

The Multimodal use case aims to simplify controls by the Public Administrations (PA) involved through the use of the eFTI architecture as a core component of a national strategy for logistics digitalization. The pilot aims to cover different logistics segments and establish strong interoperability between the various IT systems used by the PAs.

The Crossborder use case is mainly aimed at testing the validity of using eFTI as a tool to improve the quality of roadside checks across Europe. The use case will also be used to evaluate the use of e-CMR in conjunction with eFTI. The economic operators involved will be road carriers and freight forwarders.

Transport mode: Road, Rail

Italian eFTI Pilot

The main focus of the pilot is the development of an initial kernel of the eFTI infrastructure, to be validated in an operational environment, with a crossborder component to test intra-EU checks and cooperation and a multimodal component to assess the use of eFTI with different transport methods.

Objectives

  • Strengthen the validity of controls using eFTI
  • Digitalize and simplify the logistics supply chain in Italy in accordance with the MIT’s strategy for digitalization
  • Enable PA systems to become interconnected and interoperable to facilitate checks, controls and information sharing
  • Enable authorized PAs to carry out any type of control
  • Strengthen eFTI suitability for international road freight transport between 2 EU countries
  • Test the use of eFTI in conjunction with e-CMR by economic operators
  • Pilot cooperation between control authorities
