France placed digital trust and cybersecurity at the centre of the transport and logistics agenda during Solutrans 2025, one of the country’s flagship industry events. This year’s programme included a dedicated national session on cybersecurity and data protection in the freight ecosystem—an issue that is rapidly gaining strategic importance as Europe moves toward the implementation of the electronic Freight Transport Information (eFTI) Regulation.
Held in Lyon, the event brought together experts, technology providers, transport operators, and public authorities to discuss how digitalisation is reshaping the movement of goods across Europe. The discussion placed particular emphasis on data protection, authentication, and digital trust as essential prerequisites for a secure and competitive freight sector.
Representing the eFTI4EU project, Jacques Velot, Vice President of Imprimerie Nationale and eFTI4EU project partner, contributed to the national roundtable “Cybersécurité – sécuriser nos données et nos flottes”. In his speech, Mr. Velot highlighted how cybersecurity is not merely a technical concern but a decisive element for sovereignty, resilience, and operational performance in connected logistics environments.

From 2027 onwards, EU Member States will be required to accept transport documents in electronic format through certified platforms compliant with the eFTI Regulation. This transition marks a major milestone: freight operators—large companies and SMEs alike—will need to ensure that their digital data exchanges are secure, interoperable, and aligned with EU standards such as eIDAS and eFTI.
A key message emerging from the event is that digital trust must be accessible to all actors, including the smallest transport companies. Demonstrations showcased user-friendly solutions enabling secure document exchange without requiring technical expertise or costly infrastructure. These tools aim to support the broader uptake of eFTI-compliant practices and ensure a level playing field across Europe.
Visitors at SOLUTRANS were able to explore solutions such as My Hub Pro, designed to:
- streamline and secure data and document exchanges between operators;
- guarantee compliance with EU frameworks (eIDAS, eFTI, cybersecurity requirements);
- strengthen the resilience of supply chains through trusted digital processes.
A National Platform to promote Europe’s Digital Transport Agenda
The French session at SOLUTRANS clearly demonstrated the country’s commitment to advancing the digital transition of freight transport and supporting the implementation of eFTI. Through national events of this kind, France actively contributes to the wider European dialogue and showcases how industry, technology providers, and public authorities can work together to build a secure, interoperable, and future-proof digital ecosystem.
For eFTI4EU, this event represented an important opportunity to raise awareness, connect with industry stakeholders, and reinforce the message that cybersecurity, authentication, and digital trust are essential foundations of the eFTI framework.
