As part of the ongoing series of Member State National Events within the eFTI4EU project, Austria successfully held its dedicated national webinar “eFTI – AKTUELL 12/25” on 10 December 2025. Organised as an online session, the event gathered around 60 participants from public authorities, logistics operators, technology providers and other key stakeholders actively following the evolution of electronic freight transport information in Europe.
The event was organised with the involvement of SCHIG (Schieneninfrastruktur-Dienstleistungs-Gesellschaft mbH), ASFINAG (Autobahnen- und Schnellstraßen-Finanzierungs-Aktiengesellschaft) and the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI), bringing together the key national actors engaged in the ongoing digital transition of freight transport.
Together, these bodies shared Austria’s perspective on the development and implementation of the eFTI Regulation and its digital transition roadmap, detailing how national systems and stakeholders are preparing for the July 9, 2027 milestone when electronic freight data exchanges will become fully enabled and recognised across borders.
During the webinar, participants received an update on the latest achievements of the eFTI4EU and eFTI4LIVE projects, as well as an overview of upcoming national objectives. These included Austria’s priorities in aligning national infrastructures with European requirements, strengthening cooperation between public authorities and industry, and fostering a coordinated national approach to digital freight documentation.
A notable highlight of the event was the intervention of Dr. Christian Spendel, Austria’s nationally appointed logistics expert. He presented the scope of his mandate within the national eFTI ecosystem and extended an open invitation to the business community to contribute ideas and join future pilot activities. His presentation underscored Austria’s commitment to ensuring that the private sector plays an active role in shaping and validating eFTI-related innovations.
The organisers reported a high level of engagement from participants, reflecting the strong national interest in digital freight solutions and the practical implementation of the eFTI framework. The webinar also served to reinforce Austria’s contribution to the wider European efforts aimed at harmonising information exchange across transport modes and borders.
The recorded video of the event will soon be made available on the organiser’s website, together with a dedicated blog page, offering a recap of the main discussions.
