On November 28 the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport hosted in Rome the conference “The Pilots of the European Project eFTI4EU and Digitalisation in Transport – Regulation and Real Cases.” The event, organized by the Ministry in collaboration, among others, with RAM Spa and Circle—Italian beneficiaries of the eFTI4EU project—provided a platform to present the latest advancements regarding the pilots of the eFTI4EU project and to discuss the implementation of eFTI Regulation.
Speakers illustrated the current state of the art, shedding a light on the practical implications and challenges in the implementation of eFTI Regulation. Through best practices and real-life examples, and by presenting the latests eFTI4EU project developments, discussions stressed the observable advantages of digitization for freight transportation.
A focal point of the event was the introduction of the Italy-Austria cross-border pilot project, a major eFTI4EU initiative that showcased creative ways to simplify freight operations. In order to demonstrate how these technologies are opening the door to a more integrated and effective logistics ecosystem, participants also looked at complementing digitalization initiatives like the ELODIE program, presented by the Unione Interporti Riuniti (U.I.R.). This example of digitalisation in transport and logistics highlighted innovative approaches to improving efficiency and connectivity across intermodal hubs.
The event served as a great opportunity for dialogue, bringing together key stakeholders to exchange ideas and collaboratively shape the future of transport digitalisation. The works of the conference were finally concluded with an address by Hon. Edoardo Rixi, Vice Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, who highlighted the crucial role of digitalisation in shaping the future of European logistics and reinforced Italy’s commitment to driving innovation in the sector.
