Three days in Brussels offered eFTI4EU the opportunity to look back at the journey completed so far — and, above all, to discuss what still needs to happen before the full application of the eFTI Regulation on 9 July 2027.

From 29 September to 1 October, the project joined eFTI4ALL and eFTI4LIVE at their shared booth during Connecting Europe Days 2026, meeting representatives from public authorities, industry, technology providers and the wider European transport community.

A central moment came during the Marketplace session with Eva Killar, from the Estonian Ministry of Climate and coordinator of eFTI4EU. Her presentation traced the project’s development from its first implementation activities to the results achieved across Europe, while highlighting the legacy that eFTI4EU will leave behind as the project approaches its conclusion.

The speech also looked beyond the project itself, underlining how the work will continue through eFTI4ALL and eFTI4LIVE and identifying the practical steps that Member States, authorities and the private sector still need to put in place on the road towards July 2027.

The booth programme then brought implementation closer to the audience through concrete national and regional examples. Solita presented the latest status of the Nordic eFTI Gate, a common gateway being developed for Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway, illustrating progress towards a shared approach to authority access and cross-border interoperability.

Portugal was also in the spotlight, with IMT – Instituto da Mobilidade e dos Transportes presenting the Portuguese eFTI pilot and screening the recently released video showing the solution in action.

Beyond the formal sessions, the stand became a meeting point for project partners and stakeholders, creating space for bilateral exchanges, new contacts and discussions on national implementation experiences. Visitors could also put their knowledge to the test through our eFTI Quiz, adding a more informal and interactive dimension to the programme.
